Login Guide

Hey there, my readers! Welcome back to a new login guide that will make filing customs documents online easier than ever before. ICEGATE (Indian Customs Electronic Data Interchange Gateway) is the official digital portal of Indian Customs wherein customs brokers, exporters, and importers can easily file all customs documents online. The ICEGATE login is used for online filing of Bills of Entry (imports), shipping bills (exports), IGM (Integrated Manifest) and electronic payment of customs duties. In this article, I will explain how this platform works, how it helps importers and exporters to pay customs duty and how you can make the best of it. This article shares a step-by-step process for ICEGATE login.

What is ICEGATE Login?

ICEGATE login is an easy process to access the digital gateway for all international trade via India. The platform is controlled by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC). Knowing the login process, filing documents, downloading shipping bills and registering AD codes is important for any importer or exporter working in India.

How to Complete ICEGATE Login?

If you want to know the process of ICEGATE login then follow below steps:

Open ICEGATE login page by visiting https://www.icegate.gov.in

Importers: Login with your IEC associated user ID to file bills of entry, check consignments and pay customs duty electronically.

Exporters: Login with your ICEGATE ID to file shipping documents, check export incentives and download acknowledgments and documents.

Customs Brokers/ CHA: Login with your CHA code to file documents on behalf of multiple customers and manage all IECs from a single dashboard.

However, if you are new to the ICEGATE portal, you need to first register for it first.

ICEGATE Registration Steps in 2026

New registration validates your IEC against GSTN in real time. If your GSTIN is not linked with ICEGATE and mapped to your IEC in customs first, that validation fails and you will be stuck in the middle. If you are an importer or exporter, complete these two steps before anything else:

Integrate Your GSTIN with ICEGATE

Firstly, visit the home page of ICEGATE at https://www.icegate.gov.in/

Navigate to Services, then Registration and finally GSTIN Integration

On the GSTIN Integration page, enter your GSTIN and CAPTCHA and submit. This completes your GSTIN registration with customs.

Map Your IEC to Your GSTIN

Visit the Services page

Click Registration and then IEC-GSTIN Mapping

On the IEC & GST Integration page, enter your IEC number, your GSTIN and CAPTCHA. Submit.

On successful completion, you will find that your IEC and GSTIN have been linked to the system. This alignment allows customs to find your IEC and GST as the same entity.

Complete these two steps before starting fresh registration. This helps you integrate everything- mobile and email on the GST profile, IEC/DGFT profile, and your PAN.

In case the IEC was published earlier than you had GST, or you changed numbers, fix the misalignment at the source first. 90% of the ‘portal rejected’ issues persist because of this mismatch.

How to Register for ICEGATE Portal?

To complete the registration process, follow these instructions.

First, visit the ICEGATE portal - login/sign up - register

Second, select ‘Fresh Registration - Don’t have Reference ID’ (or enter the reference ID if you have already started)

Third, select your user type from the available options (Importer, exporter, customs broker, shipping line, etc)

Fourth, enter IEC and GSTIN in ICEGATE; then it validates these live against DGFT and GSTN and extracts all registered contact information.

Select the email and mobile to use

Complete the verification by entering the OTP shared to your contact details

A reference ID is generated so that you can continue

Enter the organization details

Complete the Authorized Parent User’s information

Link your Class 3 DSC and sign, then upload documents in the prompted size and format.

Cross-check every detail and then submit.

Upon completion, you will receive an acknowledgement instantly; customs reviews and shares activation via email. It takes 1-3 business days usually.

Documents Required for Fresh ICEGATE Registration

  1. Valid IEC (from DGFT)

  2. GSTIN

  3. PAN

  4. Email ID and mobile number registered with both GSTN and DGFT

  5. Class 3 DSC

  6. Active bank account

Rejection is very common if you do not fill in the information correctly. A mismatch in the contact details can end up in an unsuccessful attempt.

How to Pay Customs Duty on ICEGATE?

Paying duty no longer flows through opening the challan, selecting a bank, and paying it. It flows through the Electronic Cash Ledger (ECL)- a prepaid wallet managed under the Customs (Electronic Cash Ledger) Regulations, 2022. You recharge the wallet, then pay a number of Bill of Entry challans from the balance immediately. The best part: no more single-gateway transaction pr BOE and you can pay for many shipments at the same time instead of paying each one separately.

Here are the four methods to shift your money into the ledger. Choose any of the options that your bank supports:
