The Poco X3 Pro has been launched at the price of Rs 18999 with 6 GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Other RAM variants come at Rs 20,999. However, the storage remains the same in the variants. If you consider yourself a power user and expect to use this device heavily for many years, you may find the difference between 6GB and 8GB of RAM. This phone is available in three color options: graphite black, steel blue and golden bronze.

Poco X3 Pro Design 

The Poco brand is clearly focusing on Gen Z buyers who like chic designs that will stand out anywhere. We have seen vibrant colors, unique camera module shapes and eye-catching patterns in some recently introduced Poco mobiles; however, the Pro version looks very similar to the Poco X3, with the same type of oversized camera module in the centre of the rear, which resembles a circle with the top and bottom flattened out. 

Two-thirds of the rear panel has a frosted matte finish. However, there is a thick stripe right down the centre that is not only glossy and reflective but also has a pattern of diagonal lines that you will find at some angles. This portion of the rear picks up fingertips smoothly and they stand out even more due to the matte areas present on either side. There is a big-sized Poco logo in this stripe as well. However, it is outlined and not solid like previous versions. This makes it quite less in-your-face.

Not everyone is bothered about the large and heavy size of the device. It weighs around 213g and is 9.4mm thick, which are both above average for this category. The body is rated IP53 and POCO calls this ‘splash proof’. The front of the device is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 6. 

On the front, there is a 6.67-inch display with a camera hole at the top-centre. There is a notification LED hidden in the speaker grille right at the top. Although it is a famous feature, it is not really visible unless you look at this device head-on. 

Poco has gone with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, which is a bit recessed. The volume buttons are right above it. There is a hybrid dual-SIM tray on the left which allows you to sacrifice a second SIM if you want to use a microSD card for extended storage. Xiaomi’s trademark IR emitter is above all, along with a hole for better sound through the earpiece when used as a second speaker. You can expect smooth performance for everyday usage when you are spending around Rs 20,000 for a smartphone in India and this is exactly what Poco delivers. The hardware is sufficient to run all your social media and communication applications along with games and productivity applications. I did not face any slowdowns while switching between multiple heavy applications. 

Poco X3 Pro Antutu score of 5,43,796 is remarkable for a mobile at this price point. On the other hand, Redmi Note 10 Pro Max managed a score of 271,830. In Geekbench 5’s single-core and multi-core tests, the model managed 752 and 1892 points, respectively. 

Talking about the screen, it is not the best at this price level. It is good for casual use, but if you really like your content to pop, you may be a bit underwhelmed with the Poco X3 Pro. The high refresh rate is find and HDR kicks in while streaming videos on YouTube. The camera hole is on the bigger side compared to the ongoing standards. There are stereo speakers that provide loud and good sound effects while playing games. 

All these capabilities together make a strong gaming experience. I tried COD Mobile and Asphalt9: Legends, and both of them ran smoothly on the device. Overall, the gameplay was enjoyable. However, sometimes the upper rear of the X3 Pro gets warm. 

Usage is generally seamless. The fingerprint sensor works perfectly and is easy to identify by touch alone. Face recognition also performs well. However, this is not comfortable for all users, mainly on-hand due to its heavy weight. The main disappointments are ads on the Glace screen and promotional content in GetApps notifications that can be disabled with a little effort and searching through the mobile settings.

The Poco X3 battery is quite powerful. You can easily spend an entire day, even with an hour of gaming. With moderate usage, you can stretch it to a day and a half easily. You can charge the device to 55% in just 30 minutes and 93% is possible within an hour. Hence, battery performance is quite impressive.

Interestingly, Poco has decided to choose lower resolutions for the X3 Pro’s rear cameras than it did with the Poco X3. You get a 48-megapixel primary and a 9-megapixel ultra-wide secondary camera, compared to the 64 and 13 megapixels, respectively, that we found in the previous series. No doubt, the sensor and lens quality are much more upgraded than the resolution. 

In terms of photo quality, the Poco X3 Pro is not the strongest in its category. It will capture good pictures if you are a casual user. However, colors do not pop as much as you would expect. There is a sufficient amount of detail in daylight shots, but do not expect much regarding realistic textures. The ultra-wide angle camera undoubtedly captures poorer details, and compression does look rougher. Furthermore, there is some perspective around the edges of frames.
